We have been very busy celebrating at our bonfire party. First we had to hunt for sticks, we had to make sure they were dried out so they would set alight. Then we gathered around the safety barrier and talked about the importance of staying safe. After that we watched the adults prepare the bonfire with paper and the sticks we had collected. Next we watched as the fire was lit and we began to smell the smoke and feel the heat! We listened to the noises the fire made and could see the bright flames. As we watched the fire we sang camp fire songs and waited for the delicious food! We tasted mushy peas, hot dogs and hot chocolate with marshmallows and then watched as the fire was safely put out. We had so much fun!
During Autumn 1 we learnt about different types of transport. We had lots of fun on our transport hunt, searching for different vehicles and talked about different journeys that people go on. We read stories linked to transport including Mr Gumpy's Outing, The Train Ride and many more! We enjoyed using the ipads to take pictures of different vehicles around school and had a go at riding on the bikes and scooters. We ended our topic with a wow day. We played fun games, decorated biscuits and painted hot air balloons.
The children have all settled in really well and are already getting used to the new routines. So far the Ladybirds have been learning where to put their belongings, how to line up to go to the hall, where to go at lunch time, how to look after our classroom and much more! They've been making new friends and getting to know different teachers in the classroom and around school. Have a look at some of the fun things we have been doing!
