Rabbits - Yr 1

                    Welcome to Year 1

We are the Rabbit class and there are 27 remarkable rabbits who are ready and eager to learn and we are very lucky to be supported by Mrs Parker. The Year 1 door is always open so please do not hesitate to pop in for a chat before or after school. Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday so please can you make sure that your child has a labelled PE kit in school.

               Bright Lights, Big City

Our topic for the first half term is Bright Lights, Big City. We shall be learning all about London and the Queen. Looking at key landmarks, different types of transport and planning a journey around London are just some of the exciting thing we have coming up. We shall be looking at the Great Fire of London and the reasons why it spread so fast.

We must make sure that we practice our curtsies, bows, pleases and thank-you’s as one will not be amused when we throw a tea party for her!

So far we have had great fun making and eating bread rolls, junk modelling and learning all about London.

                Dinosaur Planet

Stomp, crash, ARRRGGGHHH!! Watch out the dinosaurs are about!

What is your favourite dinosaur? The Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Brachiosaurus or the Micropachycephalosaurus?

Come with us as we explore the land of dinosaurs, delve into hunting for fossils and even become a dinosaur dentist. We shall be looking at the life of Mary Anning who found her first fossil when she was just 12. We will look at her life as a palaeontologist in the 1800s and compare how it life is different from 2017.

Doyouthinkhesawus? Yes he did… RUN! RABBITS RUN!!

Memory Box

The first topic in Year 1 is Memory Box. During this topic we shall be looking at how we have changed from birth to now! We will have the opportunity to look at photographs of when we were a baby to be able to compare and contrast to how we are now. Miss Stokes might even bring in a picture of when she was a baby!! In this topic we will also get a chance to look at how some of the things we eat, wear and play with have changed. In order to be able to do this we would like our parents to dig out some things so we can look and take pictures for our learning.

At the end of this topic we had a teddy bear's picnic to celebrate Rainbow Bear's birthday. We had lots of fun and brought our own bears in to join the fun.
