Welcome to the Summer Term.
Hope you had a good break and we are all looking forward to a bright and sunny term.
In English we will be reading 'Charlotte's Web' which will link in well to our Science learning, about 'Plants and Animals'.
In Geography, we will be exploring the 'Amazon Rainforest' and in History we will be investigating 'Plant Explorers'.
Historically, this is an important term as the country will be celebrating the Queen's 90th Birthday. More details to follow.
Please continue to support your child with Reading and also learning their Maths times tables.
Homework will continue along with spellings every week. Thank you for your continued support, which benefits the children a lot.
Our 'Reading Challenge' has been a success and the children are keen to be part of the end of term draw, which has contributed to the development of their reading significantly.
PE will continue to take place on Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at all times, with footwear for indoor and outdoor activities.

Experimenting with Science and our artistic skills
Betty Brookes, Councillor, joined Year 3 children and helped to plant bulbs. Councillor Brookes has a long association with the John Hunt family and enjoyed working with the children.
Welcome to Year 3
The Year 3 teaching staff are, Mr Good and Mrs Dean. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Griffiths . We are a friendly bunch of people and if you ever have any concerns, worries or questions please feel free to pop in and see us.
The children have chosen our class names based on precious metals, minerals or jewels. Mrs Dean's class name will be Class Pearl an and Mr Good's will be Class Titanium. Our classrooms are located in the Lower Key Stage building, over looking the main playground. Now that your child has entered the juniors it is essential that they continue to build their independence, therefore we would ask that you drop off and collect from the main playground, rather than accompanying them into the building.
Year 3 is an exciting one and we have lots of fantastic experiences and topics planned throughout the year. To help your child have a deeper understanding and to help make their learning more purposeful and enjoyable we would be grateful if you could assist them with any homework that has been set.
Our P.E. lessons will be on a Friday morning and could take place either indoors or outdoors, so it is essential that they come prepared with the correct kit. We will also be swimming on a Monday afternoon, commencing on Monday 7th September. For this all children will need to have their swimming kit, as well as being appropriately dressed for the walk to the swimming pool. If your child is unable to participate in either our P.E. or swimming lessons please speak to a member of the Year 3 team or send a note in with your child. We are always desperate for helpers for swimming, so if you can spare a few hours on a Monday afternoon please come and see us.
During morning playtimes child can purchase a snack of either a piece of toast (20p). If your child brings in their own snack only healthy options will be allowed. As part of our healthy schools approach we would encourage all children to bring a water bottle that they can have access to during day. This will allow them to keep hydrated, which will have a positive impact on their concentration and stamina.
We are looking forward to working alongside you and we hope to see you at one of the Year group events that we will be hosting throughout the coming year.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
