World Poetry Day

Monday 21st March was World Poetry Day and Year 4 Alexandrite class went to The Oaks to share poems we had written, with the residents.

We wrote poems using alliteration.

Ruby Roo’s Zoo

In Ruby Roo’s Zoo you will find:

A fluffy pink flamingo, walking in a pond,

A lively leopard, looking at its dinner,

A cheeky cheetah, cheering as it runs,

A ravenous rabbit, ready to hop

And a blue bird, getting ready for a race.

By Ruby W

And poems about our families based on one by the poet Roger Stevens.

My Family

My nanny is kind

She always helps everyone,

She is like a bright star in the sky,

I wish she was here with me.

My mum is beautiful,

She is always kind to me,

Yesterday she helped me.

My dad is sweet,

He is always playing with me,

Sometimes I wish he could play with me every day.

My big brother is annoying,

He always says, “Have a good day.” to me while I’m doing something,

Tomorrow I’m going to ignore him!

Welcome to Year 4, the teachers are Mrs Cobb, Mr Wright and our teaching assistants are Mr Evans and Mrs Griffiths.

Our door is always open so do pop in and see us if you are concerned about anything. It's much easier to catch us at the end of the day!

The Year 4 classes are in the Lower KS2 Building. Children in Amethyst Class will enter and leave by the door between the classrooms where the lockers can be found and Alexandrite Class by the door facing the field. Children need to remain on the playground until the whistle has blown.

All children need a named water bottle.

Please return asthma forms as soon as possible. It is essential that children have inhalers in school.

In Year 4 children will have a 15 minute break in the morning and another break during the 1 hour dinner period. There will be no afternoon break. Children may bring in a piece of fruit for morning break if they wish. Children can also purchase toast (20p) or fruit (30p).

P.E.

Children need a black pair of shorts, a white t-shirt and a pair of plimsolls for indoor P.E. and tracksuit trousers and top, and a pair of trainers for outdoors. P.E. kit needs to be in a named bag and kept in school all week.

The children are really lucky to have Mr Hancock teaching them guitars each Thursday, so please can you ensure the children take responsibility for bringing in their guitars to school that day ( We'd like to keep on Mrs Wilkinson's good side, she often has frantic phone calls home on a Thursday morning!)
