Covid catch up funding

Catch-up Premium funding strategy 2020-2021

Children and young people across the country have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.  Those from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds will be among those who will suffer the most impact due to the interruption to their education.

The government has announced £1 billion of funding to support the children and young people to catch up.  This includes a one-off universal £650 million catch-up premium for the 2020-2021 academic year to ensure that schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time.

Our allocation has been calculated on a per pupil basis, providing us with a total of £80 for each pupil in Foundation 2 through to Year 6.  For the academic year 2020 to 2021 John Hunt Academy will receive £29,280 catch up premium.  This funding will be received termly in instalments:

Autumn term £7,340

Spring term £9,740

Summer term £12,200

Please see the report below on how the grant will be spent at John Hunt Academy and how the effect of this expenditure on the educational achievement of those pupils at our school will be assessed.  There is also a link to the government website with additional information on the funding can be used by schools.
