Now work through the PowerPoint. Some of the slides are easy and some will require you to think really carefully. Just have a go and do your best. Once you have watched the PowerPoint there are two different activity sheets for you to complete. Don't worry about printing them off, you can write the answers on a piece of paper.

What is a Non-chronological Report?
A non-chronological report is a non-fiction report which is not written in order of time. The report is focused on a single topic and includes different facts. A non-chronological report follows the following structure:

A non-chronological report has sections of information under different headings. Today, you are going to complete your report planning. You need to think of 4 different sub-headings, then find facts from the information you read yesterday and write them under each heading. Remember when we do our planning in class we don't write in full sentences we just use a bullet point and notes. I have included two different planning templates. The first has the sub-headings included and the second does not. If you want to challenge yourself then think of your own sub-headings. I have also included an example that I have written to give you a bit of help and guidance.
Today, you are going to start to write your report using your notes to help you. Focus on writing your title, introduction and the first two sections of your report. I have included the success criteria below. Try and include all the different features in your writing. Remember to focus on producing a 'take care' piece of work. This means you need to focus on the presentation and layout of your work including your handwriting. I don't want to see capitals in the wrong places and lots of crossings out! Try really hard to turn your notes into full sentences and join them using conjunctions such as 'and'. I will also be looking for commas in a list and expanded noun phrases. I have included two writing templates. Feel free to use either of them or simply write your report on a piece of lined paper. I have also included an example of my report (just the title, introduction and first two sections) to help you. Look carefully at how I have set my report out!
Today, you need to write the last two sections of your report. I have completed my example and added it below. Once you have finished check back though your work with an adult. Use the success criteria to make sure that you have included all the key features. Make any corrections. These might be spellings, capitals in the wrong place, missing punctuation or missing words. Finally, add any pictures and send over a copy so I can read it. I look forward to reading your amazing reports!
