Below are a mixture of reading and writing activities to complete during the week.

Common Exception Words

Below are a list of words that children should be able to read and spell by the end of their time in KS1. Spend some time each day reading and spelling some of the words. 

Punctuation and Grammar

  • Work though the PowerPoint below recording answers on paper or discussing with an adult.
  • Work though the booklet below recording answers on paper or discussing with an adult.

 

Focus on:

  • nouns
  • adjectives
  • verbs
  • adverbs 

 

Fun Activity 

Can you remember the compound word flip flap books we made in school? Have a go at making your own at home.

Example 

hand + bag = handbag

foot + ball = football

  • Read the passage 'Octopus' below and answer the linked questions. Remember the answers are in the text! Record the answers on paper or discuss them with an adult.
