Summer 1

The Scented Garden

Tiptoe through the tulips as your senses discover the blooming foliage and enchanting fragrances of flowers and herbs. Round and round the mulberry bush we go, planting bulbs and seeds, and then watch them grow beneath sunshine and showers.

Explore the astounding world of the scented garden, but be careful, there are some wild and dangerous plants out there that do astonishing things - just don't touch!

Spring 2

Street Detectives!

This way or that way? Where should we go? Up to the local shops or down to the playing fields? Let's learn about our local community, looking at houses old and new and finding out how are streets have changed over time.

Over the past few weeks we have become estate agents! We have designed our own dream houses, made them and advertised them! Have a look at our houses. Which would you like to live in?

Autumn 2

Muck, Mess and Mixtures

Let's get messy! Muck and mess is good! in fact, it's mega-marvellous! Dive in and get your hands all sticky and covered in paint. Play with liquids, squish some dough and checkout the slushiest and mushiest foods. Pour, mix, stir, splat! How does it feel to get your hands covered in goo? Don’t worry about the mess… it’ll always wash!’

Abstract Art

We have been learning about abstract art. We looked at artists such as 'Paul Klee' and 'Wassily Kandinsky' and then created our own art. We love the bright colours.

Bubble Painting

All you need is water, paint, washing up liquid and a straw. Then take a deep breath and BLOW! Be careful not to suck up the paint or blow it that hard it covers your face!

Marble Painting

Great fun was had by everyone! Look at all the different patterns we created by mixing marbles and paint. What colours would you pick for your artwork?

Pizza Making

We had fun making our own pizzas. We made the dough by mixing water, oil, flour, baking powder and salt. We then added different toppings before cooking in the oven. They tasted delicious! Why not try making the pizzas at home. The recipe is attached below.

Land Ahoy!

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

Arrr... me hearties, it's a sailor's life for me!

Get your sea legs on, it's time to sail the salty seas. Navigate, investigate and explore the world - just like Captain Cook.

Pirate Day

Wow, what a fantastic Pirate Day we had. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes! We also completed some great activities. We played different pirate games and them danced to different pirate tunes. Watch our amazing Year 2 pirate dance video below! We also went on a treasure hunt and made our own pirate puppets.

Pirate Puppets

Pirate Ships

We had fun designing, making and testing out our pirate ships. We made them using a plastic tub, a wooden stick, Blu Tack and paper. Once we had made our boats we predicted if they would float or sink. We then placed them in a big tub of water for 15 seconds. All of our boats floated, though a couple were 'touch and go'!

Why do you think we made our boats from plastic tubs and not paper boxes?
