We are unable to send out homework in its usual format at the minute. As a result your child will be provided with a homework pack containing maths (times tables, number bonds, place value), handwriting, spellings and grammar activities which they can complete at home during this half term.
Our Fab 4 Reading Challenge has started again this term. Please ensure that your child reads at least 4 times every week at home. If they are able to complete the challenge they will receive a stamp in their reading diary and their name on the classroom chart. A completed collection of stamps will result in a reward. Please make sure your child brings their reading book and diary to school every day!
For more information on the new and exciting reading books the school has purchased for Foundation and KS1 please read the 'Reading Letter KS1'. This can be found under the letter section on our class website.
We will be sending spellings home every Friday. We will stick your child’s spellings in their reading diary. We will then test them the following Friday. We will staple their test in their reading diary so you can see which words they got correct and which they got wrong. Please help your child to learn their spellings during the week.
'Common Exception Words'
‘Common Exception Words’ are words that all children are expected to be able to read and spell by the end of KS1. They are mostly words that are unable to be sounded out and as a result need to be learnt by sight. To support your child, will be sending home word cards in individual zip wallets (maximum of 4 words at a time). Please spend time helping your child learn to read and if possible spell these words. Please make sure your child brings their word wallets to school every day so that we can regular update their words, talking out ones they know and adding new ones.
