Reminder of school closure to most pupils

Dear Parent/Carers                                                                                              22nd March 2020

Re: Coronavirus update – reminder of school closure to most pupils

I am writing to remind you that school is closed to almost all children from Monday morning until further notice.

While we regret that this is the situation, we have to follow the latest government advice.

Therefore, we do not expect to see your children on Monday unless:

  • Any parent or carer in your household is a critical worker and you will not be able to care for your child or children at home. (See who counts as a critical worker here.) It is up to you to decide as a family whether your child comes into school in this instance. We will support them in school if you need us to
  • They have a child protection plan
  • They have an education, health and care plan

We have already been in touch with all parents who qualify as Key Workers and made arrangements for their children.  If you believe your child falls into one of the categories above and you haven’t already told us, please let us know immediately. Please email the school on outlining why you believe you are a Key Worker and we will be touch with you on Monday to obtain work place evidence.

If we are not expecting to see your child on Monday morning, we will need to send them home.

Pupils who receive free school meals

If your child receives free school meals but is not eligible to attend school from Monday, we can help make alternative provision for you.  The Local Authority have told us they will provide us with packed lunches for your child for the first week of closure.  However, we have no further information now, when or if these will be delivered to the school on Monday.  We will notify you when they are available to collect.  Please do not come into school unless we have instructed you to do so.

I know this is a difficult time for many of you, and the next few weeks will be an adjustment for all of us. We are doing everything we can to support your children and families at this time and appreciate your patience and support. Please do help us by following the advice set out above.

I’ll be back in touch with more information as soon as possible, please make sure to check your ParentMail and Website regularly for updates.

Remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.

Kind regards

Mrs Mole
