Miss Wilks' class has 24 children and we are lucky enough to be supported by Mrs Parker every other week.
OUR CLASSROOM
This is our beautiful classroom. We spend lots of time in our reading area as we love getting stuck in a good book!
On our class page you will find updates about what we have been doing at school. If you need to contact me for any reason feel free to email me on p.wilks@johnhunt.notts.sch.uk
PE
Robin class have PE on a Wednesday and Friday. However, ensure that you have your PE kit in school all week! Your PE kit should consist of black shorts, a white t-shirt and plimsolls or trainers. You may also want black jogging bottoms for outdoor PE. Please ensure that everything is labelled with your first and last name.
END OF KEY STAGE 1 SPELLINGS
As you are aware, we have stopped weekly spelling tests to give you chance to practice our Year 1 and 2 Common Exception words. I have attached them below for you to see.
This term, we are learning about flowers, seeds and bulbs. We have planted our own seeds and we’re learning all about the artist Vincent Van Gogh!
STREET DETECTIVES
This term, we have been learning about our local community and how it has changed over time. We have looked at lots of different houses and have even been estate agents! Take a look at what we have been doing.
We produced beautiful, take care adverts for our dream houses. We included key features, a house description and a photograph!
We created our own town which was full of our dream houses!

FAB 4 WINNERS!
This term, Robins have been trying extremely hard with their reading at home. We have been 1st place on the Fab 4 champions board four times! Here is a photo of our celebration for all of the year 2 children who got their fab 4 every single week!
Thank you parents, for supporting us and your child with reading at home.
MUCK, MESS AND MIXTURES
Time to get messy! This topic is all about getting out hands dirty and experimenting with different materials. Pour, mix, stir, splat and squish! This is our time to see how it feels to get stuck in and try new things! Keep your eyes peeled for pictures of our different experiments, activities and adventures!
WOW AFTERNOON!
On Tuesday 17th November, we had our very own 'messy afternoon' in year 2! We got to put our hands in lots of different textures including jelly, pasta, shaving foam, baked beans, paint and cornflour. What fun we had!
SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS
First, we tested what would happen when we add water to different materials. We had shaving foam, salt, oil and cornflour. Some sank, some floated and others dissolved.
Skittle galore! We then placed skittles in a pattern and then added water. We waited patiently for the amazing results and were shocked to see how the water made the colour run!
Each week, we will celebrate one 'Take Care Champion'. This person follows schools golden rules and takes care of all of their work. Keep your eyes peeled to see which Robin is chosen!
