During this unusual time we are faced with at the moment it is more important than ever we do things which benefit our mental health and for me singing and music is a big part of my life. So I want to share some links with you for music and singing lessons. Enjoy, stay safe and hopefully we will get to sing together soon!

Welcome to the John Hunt Choir page!

We are a group of 48 children from Key Stage 2 who love singing and dancing! The choir had a busy festive period performing with our partner school Redlands, for their parents and our own. Then we were asked to perform live on our local radio, Radio Newark due to our huge success from last year. This year we received over 4000 views. So thank you.

Redlands Visit

This year we started with a bang and for the first time ever the John Hunt Primary School Choir performed at Young Voices, Sheffield Arena. We were joined by many other schools and celebrity performers Tony Hadley and Beau Dermot.

Being a part of Young Voices provided the children the opportunity to perform in one of the UK’s greatest arenas alongside incredible artists. They achieved this with the support of their peers and families. It positively impacted their self-belief, self-motivation, confidence, and ability to communicate as part of a team - which is invaluable! Adding to this the numerous health benefits of consistent singing in rehearsals, including breathing regulation to relieving stress - it’s no wonder that John Hunt Primary School Choir will be returning to Young Voices next year!

Sara Asher: Yes very positive. I'm hoping it has increased her confidence and lowered her anxiety over being in front of so many people. Very pleased with our seats so close to school and could easily see my child. I could see how much fun she was having. Enjoyed their singing and the extra acts and really enjoyed the parent participation. 10/10

Wayne Doyle:Without a doubt, she felt very proud to be part of something so incredible and will only help her confidence grow ever more. Very much so, she had an amazing time and loved every minute of such a fantastic opportunity the whole day was great and again she felt proud of herself. We truly would like that very much , to see our daughter be a part of a such a wonderful experience again. Its a wonderful memory and one we will never forget. It was incredible , the atmosphere was fantastic , the whole show was brilliantly organised a massive thank you to john hunt and Mrs Cooper, Mrs Martin and everyone else who helped bring this amazing night together , the children and teachers should be incredibly proud of themselves it was a night to remember, emotional and got the audience on there feet,  an absolute pleasure to watch , many thanks again to John Hunt the teachers and of course the wonderful choir, really hope to experience again. 10/10

Elizabeth Elsey: Absolutely!! Taking part in Young Voices gave Katherine opportunities she'd have never had otherwise and really gave her a sense of awe, togetherness and inspiration. Yes! She's not stopped talking about it. Fantastic. Amazing seats and couldn't have been a better evening. 10/10

Clare Hemsley: Absolutely, to be part of a choir learning songs together is one thing but to be able to perform at such a huge event is a lifetime opportunity few will experience. Every single moment...the choir lessons, practising at home, the travelling and of course the main event.

Excellent!  It was such a well organised event, from buying tickets through school, booking parking online, travelling distance, it wasn't that far and very easy from Newark.   John Hunt parents had excellent seats grouped together so we could share the experience together.  I was a little disappointed at not being able to collect the child from the stadium BUT the fact that the coach was back at school before us shows it was the right decision!  Giving the children a later arrival time the next morning helped too.

Enormous thanks to Mrs Cooper for leading all the choir activities this term and to all the staff who volunteered to take the children to Sheffield. 10/10

More Young Voices fun!

Young Voices 2020

The John Hunt Primary School Choir has had another fantastic year at Young Voices and I am so proud of each and every child for their hard work and dedication. Not only did we sing at Sheffield Arena we also performed the Young Voices songs with Redlands Primary School from Worksop at our school and theirs to make sure all parents got the opportunity to share this joy with us. Additionally to the parents, family and friends for all your support, thank you for coming to watch them perform and no doubt practicing the songs and dance moves with them!
