Go for a walk around your local area following the route on the map provided below. What street names can you spot and which features can you identify? For example a pub, church, park, vets, traffic lights. What sort of houses might you pass? Can you spot a detached house, a semi-detached house, a terraced house, a block of flats, a bungalow? There is an blank map below. You could use this map to plan your own route. Maybe your walk might take you round the lake or past Newark Academy.
If you have the technology you could use the website link below to access the map on your phone while out walking or on a laptop or device at home. Simply type in the postcode, street name, town, village etc. and click go! You can then drag the map around the screen by simply clicking on it; this will enable you to reposition the map. You can also zoom in and out using the plus and minus symbols on the right of the screen. Have fun playing with it!
Write a short recount of your local walk from yesterday. It can be a recount of the route I set or a route you planned yourself. Make sure you include important information such as dates, times, locations and events. Also, try to include connectives such as ‘and’ to join your sentences together, commas in a list and the past tense. I have included an example which might be helpful.
On Monday afternoon, we went for a walk around Balderton. We followed the route on our map. We started the walk outside school and finished our walk outside school. On our journey we walked past the park, 2 vets, St Giles Church, 2 pubs, a vegetable shop and a chip shop. The chips smelt yummy! We also walked past a car garage and a care home. We spotted different types of houses as well. The walk lasted for about 30 minutes.
Jesus and His Stories
This half term we will be learning all about different parables. These are stories told by Jesus about everyday life. Each story has a hidden meaning!
Work though the PowerPoint 'Jesus'. This will help you understand the meaning of the word parable.

Animals Including Humans
Our Science topic this half term is all about animals. This week we will be focusing on animal babies. What baby mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles do you know? Work though the PowerPoint 'Animal Babies' and watch the two clips below. Click on the picture of the ladybirds to access clip 1.
Now, work through slides 1 - 13 on the PowerPoint 'Animal Babies Lesson presentation'. Then cut up the animal images and match the babies to their parents. Then cut up the word cards and match them to the correct images. Check your answers with an adult. Once you have finished you could use the cards to play 'pairs' with a family member. If you don't have a printer you could match them up on the screen or simply write down the animal babies and their parents.
Continue to work through slides 14 - 21 on the PowerPoint 'Animal Babies Lesson Presentation. These slides focus on how animals grown. Then complete the activity cut and stick sheet 'Egg or Not'. If you don't have a printer you could just discuss the answers with an adult. Finally work through slides 22 - 24 from the PowerPoint 'Animal Babies Lesson presentation'. These focus on life cycles e.g. egg, chick, adult or egg, hatchling, adult.
Just for a bit of fun I have attached a word search and crossword. Read the crossword instructions very carefully!
How safe would you feel?
When we feel unsafe, uncomfortable about something or worried, nervous or frightened how does our body tell us that?
Look at the different situation cards below. How safe do you think each situation is? How safe do you feel in each situation and why? Do you feel completely safe, completely unsafe or somewhere in between? You could cut the cards out and put them in order from completely safe to completely unsafe.
How could you keep yourself safe in different situations? Where are safe places in school? Are there any places in school that are unsafe and should therefor be avoided? Have a think about the following situations. Why might they be unsafe and how could they be made safe?
Finally, can you think of some people who's job it is to help keep use safe? How would you recognise these peopleif you needed help?
