Well Stags this is not how I thought our year would end together. I just wanted to let you all know that I have loved every part of having you in my class. All the funny and happy memories we got to make and share together will hold a special place in my heart. You have all worked so hard during this unprecedented year and I am so proud of your efforts. I want you to be proud of yourselves as well because no children have gone through this journey before, but you have done it! I will miss you all dearly but wanted to make sure I could wish you all a happy summer holidays as you deserve it. Please all stay safe and be well.
Good-bye for now Stags. All the best for next year. I have absolutely no doubts you will all be fantastic.
All my love
Welcome to Year 3 Stags
There are 25 stagtastic children in Stags class. Mrs Cooper is our class teacher. Keep an eye on the web site for all of the exciting things we have in store!
Now that your child is in the first year of lower key stage 2, it is essential that they begin to build their independence, therefore we would ask that you drop off and collect your child from the main playground rather than accompanying them into the building. I will be at the class door sending them out one by one at the end of the day to stop crowding and learning new faces!
If you ever need to talk to me please ask to make a meeting. Due to Covid regulations we would like the drop of to be as smooth and efficient as possible to stop the year group bubbles crossing over.
Year 3 is an exciting one and have lots of fantastic experiences and topics planned throughout the year including:
Rocks, Relics and Rumbles
Empires and Eras
Through the Ages
To help your child have a deeper understanding and to help make their learning more purposeful and enjoyable we would be grateful if you could assist them with any homework. This year, homework will be sent home as a termly pack. Within this pack there will be Maths, Literacy, Grammar and Topic activities for the children to complete. We encourage you to complete an activity on a weekly basis. Once your child has done the activity please take a photo of their work and send it to the email address below:
Homework will also include weekly Fab 4 Reading, spellings and basic multiplication knowledge, beginning from the 2x times tables. Our Fab4 scores will be collected every Monday. This year, children will only be allowed to change reading books on Mondays and Thursdays. Once returned they will be quarantined for 72 hours to ensure the safety of everyone.
We are so lucky in year 3 to also have specialized music lessons every Thursday morning!
Swimming lessons will now start in November and will run up to February half term. Look out for details closer the time!
In the meantime, please encourage your child to practice getting changed and redressed quickly and efficiently so we can make sure we can get back to school in time. All earrings must be removed by the children as the adults cannot do this. If they are unable to, they will need to be removed before school. If they are not removed they will not be able to enter the pool.
Finally as a reminder, the children must bring their own water bottles into class. They must ONLY contain water. Juice is NOT allowed.
This may be a different year for the children but I can promise it will be filled with fun, laughter and care. With lots of exciting learning experiences giving your child the best opportunities to excel in their learning. I can't wait to see where our journey together takes us!
Today in our Maths lesson we came across this problem in our Rapid Reasoning. The children tried really hard to crack it but they couldn't quite manage it so they decided it would be a fun idea for their adults to have a go. Let me know how you get on

WOW DAY- The Exotic Animal Encounter
We were so lucky in Year 3 to have a visit for The Exotic Animal Encounter Team who brought in some beautiful animals and taught us all lots of new fun facts about these creatures. The children will able to hold the animals, feed them and even had them fly over them. It was such an exciting day that the children will never forget!
During this term we have had lots of fun coming back into school and adjusting to the new style of learning. At the beginning of the term we made our own place mats for dinner to keep our spaces clean and learnt lots of information about our class animal, Stags. We have covered Number and Place Value in Maths, including 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x tables. In English we have worked really hard on our presentation and handwriting, catching up and working towards the KS2 expectations. We have worked hard on our grammar knowledge and understanding of sentence structure, nouns, adjectives and verbs. In addition to this we have worked on character description, setting description, book review and letter writing.
