There are 17 stagtastic children in Stags class. Mrs Cooper is our class teacher. Keep an eye on the web site for all of the exciting things we have in store!
Now that your child is in the last year of lower key stage 2, it is essential that they continue to build their independence, therefore we would ask that you drop off and collect your child from the main playground rather than accompanying them into the building.
Year 4 is an exciting one and have lots of fantastic experiences and topics planned throughout the year. To help your child have a deeper understanding and to help make their learning more purposeful and enjoyable we would be grateful if you could assist them with any homework that has been set including the weekly Fab 4 Reading and basic multiplication knowledge, 2x - 12x tables.
With a brand new year starting lets make a positive impact with our Fab 4 Reading. The children will receive weekly awards and fantastic half term rewards!
We have PE every Monday afternoon and a session with Mini Kicks every Thursday morning (this may change after Christmas).
Burps, Bottoms and Bile
Our first topic of the term is Burps, Bottoms and Bile. In this topic the children will learn about the human digestive system and the functions of all the different organs. They will learn about types of teeth in humans and animals, tooth decay and hygiene and working scientifically. We will be conducting lots of exciting experiments including making prints of their teeth, testing their saliva, using virtual reality equipment and making working models of the digestive system!
Fantastic fun filled French day!
Today Year 4 were completely immersed in everything French. From famous monuments, learning numbers, greetings; days of the week to the delicious food which they certainly enjoyed! The children covered a variety of activities and were supported and challenged to speak in French too. We also learnt about famous French artist Henri Matisse and were inspired to create their own pieces influenced by his 'painting with scissors' technique.
Nous avons tous passé une journée fantastique!
When the Vikings came to visit- Year 4 partake day!
Year 4 were very lucky to experience a fantastic interactive day learning all about the vikings. From wearing armor, to
discussing battle strategies and to end the day a re-enactment of a journey into battle resulting in a funeral to send the warrior to Valhalla. In addition to this, the children were able to learn how to make flour from grains, mold and create silver bracelets; how to make clay pots and weave sheep wool.
World Book Day!
At John Hunt we had another fantastic World Book Day. I want to say a huge thank you to all the parents for creating such amazing costume and donating money towards buying some much needed books. Stags class have currently been looking at How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell and most recently a wordless picture book called Journey by Aaron Becker which the children are thoroughly enjoying.
