This term, we are going to be learning all about castles! We have lots of fun activities that will give you practical ways of finding out new information!

ACTIVITY 1
  • Research Lincoln Castle 
  • What interesting facts can you find out?
  • Record your findings in any way you like - information booklet, fact sheet, notes, poster, mind map 
  • I have uploaded some examples to give you some inspiration

  • What is a castle?
  • Watch the clips below
  • Work through the Parts of a Castle PowerPoint
  • Label the parts of a castle - either print and complete or draw and label 

ACTIVITY 3
  • History of castles 
  • Read all about different types of castles using the websites listed below
  • How did castles change over time? Discuss with an adult
ACTIVITY 4
  • Can you build a castle?
  • Build a model castle using construction materials such as Lego, recycling
  • Take a picture of your castle and email it to me on p.wilks@johnhunt.notts.sch.uk
  • Which type of castle will you build? A 11th century ‘Motte and Bailey Castle’ or a 14th century ‘Courtyard Castle’?
