Below is an overview of what we expect from you for your topic work for the next 3 days.

Wednesday – History & French

History – Syria

Carrying on from your work on Monday, we would like you to answer the questions attached below about Syria. The link for the stuff on Newsround is:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/16979186

We would also like you to write any questions that you might have about Syria and perhaps you could spend sometime researching the answers to these and telling us what you found out.

French – Fruit

Work through the PPT which has the sound clips of how to say the different fruits and to ask someone their favourite fruit. We have then attached the worksheet below for you to complete.

Thursday – Science

Work through the PPT on healthy bodies. Answer the questions about scurvy. Once completed this, think carefully about what a clinical trial is, do you know what one is? What they involve? Why are they done?

We would like you to design an experiment, use worksheet 1D to help, think about what you would like to find out, how long the experiment will take, how you could make it a fair test. You won’t be able to actually do this experiment but just planning it however it will be exciting to see what you come up!

If you are struggling to come up with a question, then please use the question cards that are also on the worksheets to help you.

Friday – PSHE & Art

PSHE – 5 ways to wellbeing

Think back to our work that we have done on wellbeing and what this means. What does it mean to you? How can you look after your wellbeing?

It is incredibly important that you look after yourself and our own wellbeing, taking time out of your day to look after yourself.

There has been research and there is 5 ways to wellbeing, how they fit into each individuals life is different.

Watch the two videos below on the 5 ways to wellbeing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCA4EEyCBCE

Think of the ways that you could do these 5 ways to wellbeing. Your task is to create a poster that talks about the 5 ways to wellbeing, look at the examples of the posters below to give you inspiration on how you could make yours. It needs to include ideas on how we can do these 5 ways to wellbeing as well as what they are, think about how you could explain them to younger year groups. Make it colourful, I’m excited to see it!

Art – Syria Graffiti

As a suburb of Damascus faced near-constant bombardment and a chronic lack of food, water and power, an incongruous mural appeared on the wall of a bombed-out building.

It showed a young girl standing on a pile of skulls writing a single word on a wall: Hope.

The painting brought the artist Abu Malik al-Shami to international attention and earned him comparisons with Banksy. Like Banksy, he is a politically aware street artist whose paintings have often appeared suddenly and overnight, but his messages and images are adapted to Syria's cataclysmic civil war.

Below you will find images of his Graffiti. We would like you to first recreate one of the images in your own style. Then, have a go at creating your own Graffiti image based on a message you would like to share.

We can't wait to see what wonderful artwork you produce!
