Bad Weather Information

With the arrival of winter weather fast approaching, we would like to remind parent/carers to make sure all children come to school suitably dressed for cold and damp weather.  In the interests of your child’s safety and health, we would expect all children to attend school in their normal school uniform and to have:

  • ESSENTIAL – A warm and waterproof coat.
  • ESSENTIAL – Waterproof footwear with good grip – many children bring wellingtons with a change of indoor shoes.
  • Hat, scarf and gloves would also be useful items to bring at this time of year.

In extreme weather conditions, the school will adopt the following procedures to inform Parent/Carers of school closure:

In the event of a full closure:

  • We will send a text message to parents as soon as a decision is made
  • There will be a message on the school website and Facebook page
  • The closure will be on local radio stations and the Nottinghamshire County Council website

In the event of an early closure during the school day:

  • We will inform parent/carers by text message.
  • Children should be collected as soon as possible to ensure pupils and staff get home safely.

Please ensure that we have all current mobile telephone numbers and that your phone is switched on.

Can I also remind parents NOT to telephone the school to find out if it is closed due to snow.  If the school is closed, it will be announced by the methods stated above.

We ask that you closely supervise your children during poor weather conditions to avoid slips and trips when arriving and leaving school.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Good and Miss Devlin
